THE WIND POUNDS
The wind pounds
the branches and leaveswhich, in turn
rattle the glass; shake the housewhich, in turn
invokes feline leap; a startled yelpwhich, in turn
rouses slumbering boy;
alone, in half the bedwhich, in turn
makes him yearn
for the rise——and fall
of your chest.
